Stay Home Stay Safe
With the spread of COVID-19, BLOs across Delhi started with the door-to-door survey starting, as per the Union home ministry’s recommendations. This was a mammoth city-wide exercise. They had to visit at least 300-350 houses during this time. Though there were high chances of risk, believe you me students, te BLOs risked they risked their lives while fighting against COVID-19. Numerous visits and calls were made by them to people in containment zones. The BLOs tried to follow every precautionary measure, wearing of masks, sanitisation, keeping adequate social distancing while doing the door to door survey.
Do you know who these BLOs are?
BLOs are grassroots-level workers, composed of government school teachers and Anganwadi workers -- engaged in voter identification and other election-related exercises. Delhi has more than 13,000 BLOs.
Four teachers of the Ramanujan schools (Mrs. Rekha Rani Grover (Librarian), Mrs Nirmal Ekka (PRT), Mrs Elison Kerketta (PRT), Mrs Rabia (PRT)) were appointed as corona warriors to mitigate the spread the COVID-19. The teachers were deployed as front line workers in the fight against Covid-19 as booth level officers (BLOs).
